After two years, Pian delle Vigne left the large casks to undergo a long period of bottle ageing before release.

The estate covers 184 hectares, with 65 hectares of vineyards mainly facing southwest at an altitude of about 130 meters above sea level. Since its inception, Pian delle Vigne has embraced a winemaking philosophy centered on the use of large oak casks, a choice that preserves the remarkable integrity of the Sangiovese fruit while giving the Brunello its signature vibrant elegance. The estate has been owned by the Antinori family since 1995, the year of the first vintage of Pian delle Vigne Brunello di Montalcino DOCG.

Upon arrival at the winery, the carefully selected grapes were gently destemmed and pressed. Fermentation and maceration took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about 15–20 days at 28–30 °C. A portion of the Merlot and Syrah musts fermented at slightly lower temperatures to better preserve their varietal aromas. Malolactic fermentation occurred partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks, completing by the end of the year for all varieties. The Cabernet Sauvignon was then blended with Merlot, Syrah, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The resulting wine was returned to barriques, where it rested before being bottled.
Details / Anecdotes:>
Tenuta Guado al Tasso lies within the small yet prestigious Bolgheri DOC, on the coast of the Alta Maremma, about 100 kilometers southwest of Florence. Although this appellation has a relatively short history—established in 1994—it has gained international acclaim as a new benchmark in the global wine scene. The Guado al Tasso estate spans 1,000 hectares, of which about 320 are planted with vines, while the rest is cultivated with wheat, sunflowers, and olive trees. The property is set in a stunning plain surrounded by hills, known as the “Bolgheri amphitheater” for its unique, natural shape. The vineyards are primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Vermentino (grown in both white and red varieties). They benefit from a mild climate thanks to their proximity to the sea: constant breezes moderate the summer heat and winter chill, clear the skies, and maintain excellent sunlight exposure. Il Bruciato was first produced in 2002, during one of the estate’s most challenging vintages, with the aim of showcasing the unique Bolgheri terroir in a modern and approachable style. Initially, the blend mirrored that of Guado al Tasso, but over the years it evolved to include a dedicated selection of vineyards and grape varieties. Notably, Il Bruciato was not produced in 2003.

Winemaking:>
After hand harvesting and careful selection in the cellar, the grapes were transferred to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, where alcoholic fermentation and maceration took place over about 20 days. The fermentation temperature was adjusted according to the ripeness level of the grapes: lower temperatures (around 25 °C) were chosen to preserve greater aromatic freshness, while higher ones (up to 30 °C) were used to enhance polyphenolic extraction and structure. The different lots, separated based on their characteristics, were then transferred into barriques, where malolactic fermentation was completed by the end of the year. The best lots were blended and returned to second-passage barriques for an additional 12 months of maturation. Bottling took place in mid-March 2025.
Details / Anecdotes:>

45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon – Sedimentary rocks composed of limestone, marble, claystone, with interlayers of sandstone and siliceous rocks.
Color and shades:>
Deep purple-red with violet highlights. Aroma: A wine of great complexity, with typical sweet Mediterranean notes. Fruity sensations blend perfectly with aromatic freshness, giving the wine harmony and an exceptionally pleasant aromatic spectrum. Palate: On the palate, it reveals a harmonious tannic texture — refined and persistent. Perfectly balanced even in its youth, yet capable of improving and evolving beautifully with additional bottle aging. A wine that embodies gustatory balance and the distinctive harmony of the great wines from its terroir.
Barrel refinement:>
Yes
Winemaking:>
After manual harvesting, the carefully selected grapes undergo a second sorting in the cellar. The berries ferment in temperature-controlled, truncated-cone stainless steel tanks, using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 12 months in second- and third-use barriques, completing its refinement and enhancing its complexity.
